As I was more interested in photographing flowers and portraits this didn’t worry me. When attached to a Nikon with a basic converter ring it will only focus to a couple of metres due to the distance between the lens and the sensor. Rather than using a regular nifty-fifty Nikkor, I attached an old Soviet Helios 44-2 58mm lens that I’d rescued from a dilapidated Zenit E. When the contacts are closed the contact resistance should be zero, a short circuit, but this is not always the case. When the contacts are open the resistance between the contacts is very high in the Mega-Ohms, producing an open circuit condition and no circuit current flows. The relays contacts are electrically conductive pieces of metal which touch together completing a circuit and allow the circuit current to flow, just like a switch. Connected between the yoke and armature is normally a spring (or springs) for the return stroke to “reset” the contacts back to their initial rest position when the relay coil is in the “de-energized” condition, i.e. The armature is hinged or pivoted allowing it to freely move within the generated magnetic field closing the electrical contacts that are attached to it. This iron core has both a fixed portion called the yoke, and a moveable spring loaded part called the armature, that completes the magnetic field circuit by closing the air gap between the fixed electrical coil and the moveable armature. The most common form of electromechanical relay consist of an energizing coil called the “primary circuit” wound around a permeable iron core. The relay circuit are common in Electronics applications.Īs their name implies, electromechanical relays are electro-magnetic devices that convert a magnetic flux generated by the application of a low voltage electrical control signal either AC or DC across the relay terminals, into a pulling mechanical force which operates the electrical contacts within the relay. Such relays are used in general electrical and electronic control or switching circuits either mounted directly onto PCB boards or connected free standing and in which the load currents are normally fractions of an ampere up to 20+ amperes. In this tutorial about electrical relays we are just concerned with the fundamental operating principles of “light duty” electromechanical relays we can use in motor control or robotic circuits. Relays can also have single or multiple contacts within a single package with the larger power relays used for mains voltage or high current switching applications being called “Contactors”. Also, they are relatively large, slow and only switch small electrical currents.Įlectrical Relays however, are basically electrically operated switches that come in many shapes, sizes and power ratings suitable for all types of applications. The biggest one is that they have to be manually (physically) turned “ON” or “OFF”. Although switches can be used to control something, they have their disadvantages. The easiest way to do this is using switches to interrupt the electrical supply. The most fundamental control of any equipment is the ability to turn it “ON” and “OFF”. However, if the solenoid plunger is used to operate one or more sets of electrical contacts, we have a device called a relay that is so useful it can be used in an infinite number of different ways and in this tutorial we will look at Electrical Relays. We saw previously that solenoids can be used to electrically open latches, doors, open or close valves, and in a variety of robotic and mechatronic applications, etc. The most common types of actuators or output devices are Electrical Relays, Lights, Motors and Loudspeakers. Actuators can be classed as either binary or continuous devices based upon the number of stable states their output has.įor example, a relay is a binary actuator as it has two stable states, either energised and latched or de-energised and unlatched, while a motor is a continuous actuator because it can rotate through a full 360 o motion. An actuator is also classed as a transducer because it changes one type of physical quantity into another and is usually activated or operated by a low voltage command signal. These output devices including the electrical relay are commonly classed as: Actuators.Īctuators convert an electrical signal into a corresponding physical quantity such as movement, force, sound etc. But there are also a variety of electrical and electronic devices which are classed as Output devices used to control or operate some external physical process. Thus far we have seen a selection of Input devices that can be used to detect or “sense” a variety of physical variables and signals and are therefore called Sensors. If your Red Tail Boa has retained skin after shedding you can place the snake in a plastic container lined with warm, wet paper towels with the container lid on or soak the snake in warm water. If unshed skin is not removed promptly serious health issues can form. You need to check your snake after it has shed to make sure it was able to peel all the skin off, especially around the eyes. Use moistened Big Apple Imported Premium Grade Sphagnum Moss or Zoo Med Forest Floor Cypress inside your snake’s hide. Providing a moist shelter is another way to ensure necessary humidity during shedding. This is especially true around shedding time. For this reason, it is important to maintain a decent amount of humidity in the cage by misting a couple times a day. Snakes normally shed their skin easily but sometimes they have issues if they do not have the proper humidity while shedding. You'll note shedding time when your snake's eyes turn a shade of blue and become cloudy. Babies shed more often than adults because as babies they outgrow their skin faster. Like all reptiles and amphibians, Red Tail Boas shed their entire skin all at once. If you choose to make a hiding place yourself, please make sure it is sturdy enough that there is no potential for collapsing and crushing your snake. It is always a good idea to have one shelter on the warm side and one on the cool side. The shelter can be anything from a Big Apple Basic Reptile Hide Box to a decorative reptile shelter, hiding hut or cave. It is essential to the well-being of your Red Tail Boas to have hiding places in their enclosure. If you choose to add a basking bulb to add more light to your cage make sure that you maintain proper heat levels but not go over 92° F as this could be detrimental to your snake's health Red Tail Boas, like all snakes do not require a light or UV bulb. We recommend controlling the ceramic emitter with a thermostat, such as the BAH-500 or BAH-1000DC, and monitoring the temperatures with a thermometer. The heat mat and ceramic heat emitter should be located on one side while the other side should not have any heat source. We recommend the Intellitemp Heat Mat and Big Apple Black Heat Infrared Ceramic Heat Emitter. The best way to heat your Red Tail Boa's enclosure is with a combination of a heat mat and ceramic heat emitter. Baby Red Tail Boas can also be kept on paper towels or similar product until they become juveniles.Īs with all reptiles, Red Tail Boas need a thermal gradient consisting of a warm side (90° F) and a cool side (80° F). If you use commercial brands of Aspen or Cypress bedding please be careful as they may contain a high amount of dust or other contaminants that can be harmful. It is recommended to stick to well-known substrates that are designed for use with reptiles. Zoo Med Aspen Snake Bedding is another possible substrate for Red Tail Boas and many enjoy using it. We particularly like the Zoo Med Forest Floor Cypress Bedding or Zoo Med Eco Earth for use with Red Tail Boas. Since like most snakes, Red Tail Boas are escape artists, a secure screen top is absolutely critical to keep your snake from escaping the enclosure. There is no such thing as a cage too big for a Red Tail Boa so larger is always better especially if you provide some climbing room since Red Tail Boas are very happy to climb and hang out off of the ground. Adults will end up needing an enclosure that is either 6' x 2' x 2'H or 4' x 2' x 4'H. Wild caught Red Tail Boas typically carry parasites and can be much more aggressive than captive bred.īaby and Juvenile Red Tail Boas can be set up in an enclosure as small as a 20 gallon (30" x 12" x 12"H) but within a year will require much larger housing. At Big Apple Pet Supply, we carry only Captive Bred Red Tail Boas to maintain strict quality control. Red Tail Boas typically live a long time and while captive bred Red Tails are docile snakes that adapt to handling well you need to consistently handle your snake to keep it that way. After the second year growth rate slows significantly and an adult size of 6 to 10 feet will take place. By the end of the second year the Red Tail Boa will typically reach 6 to 10 feet total. Red Tail Boas are truly magnificent snakes, but the cute, 3-ounce, 20-inch hatchling will grow to a whopping 4-to-5 feet within a year. Red Tail Boas have been a favorite of snake keepers for many years, but as responsible boa breeders we want to give you all the facts you'll need to make a proper decision on owning these wonderful animals. One, even though the ENTIRE inner Chrome Window was selected and visibly outlined for capture, ShareX literally ignored (and ultimately discarded) the entire left Octotree element - I'm guessing because it does not take part in the scrolling? It is clearly within the window (and the SELECTED region confirmed with outline). Now two pretty giant things should jump out when you compare the two. (which should have zero bearing on a simple scroll capture), on Windows 7 圆4: 0 - with various userscripts/octotree/etc. On both, the exact same client area (inner Chrome Window auto-selected with outline) of THIS Github issue window as I type, taken in Chrome DEV 圆4 Version. PNG output, no cursor, all DEFAULTS for ShareX scrolling (paging/etc.). :(Īll settings the same (as they appear to translate). I agree with most that ShareX beats all, but have to disagree with the statement that nothing beats ShareX specifically on scrolling captures. I was about to open a new issue myself but since beat me to it, I wanted to simply post a side by side of a capture I just took with today's DEV build vs a decade-old version (v10.0.2) of Techsmith Snagit (commercial). With that said, scrolling capture is IMO it's absolute number-1 weakest feature and unfortunately has been for a long time. We peasants really appreciate you guys □įirst I'll start by saying that I love ShareX's. I've tried tons of softwares for scrolling screenshots and haven't found anything that does the job as well as ShareX (even commercial ones don't come close). This will save lots of time, especially when you have to take multiple screenshots.įinally, thank you to all the contributors for your hard work □. The auto feature makes a good guess most of the time but when it doesn't and the users already know the values won't change, it's more efficient to input once and save them for all subsequent captures. Fixed values for trimming edges and combining adjustmentsĬurrently for scrolling capture, users can check " Guess offsets and combine images" to have ShareX automatically insert values for trimming edges and combining adjustments (or leave it unchecked and the values will be 0) in the " Output" tab I think it'd be nice to be able to manually choose where/when to end the taskĢ. And when it's the end of the scrolling window, ShareX would capture duplicates of the final shot to fill the maximum count (in this example, 15). ShareX would sometimes arbitrarily capture fewer than that (11,12,14.), even though there's still content below. A way to manually signal when to end capturing:Ĭurrently with v14.2.1, users can choose a maximum scroll count (Let's say 15). The compact centre looks like Elton John’s dressing table in spring and summer, when this “floral town” is bedecked in blooms. Pick up healthy picnic stuff from zero waste-focused Glossop Wholefoods and head out on the many walking and cycling trails into the Dark Peak region – that’s the wilder, higher moorland and gritstone area of the Peak District (as opposed to the lower White Peak limestone plateau). Its oldest parts date from the 12th century, cotton mills have been transformed into shops and pubs, and pre-pandemic there was a growing creative community of musicians, artists, makers and founders of independent stores and venues. Name the key towns around the fringes of the Peak District national park and you’re likely to think of Bakewell, Buxton and Matlock first, but Glossop, to the north-west of the park not far from Manchester, has plenty going for it. Like many of the country’s small museums, the pandemic left the Land of Lost Content (adult £8, child £4, book ahead) in nearby market town Craven Arms, desperate for visitors.
